What a night last night, eh!?
We were up with the rest of the group to sit in the 10 a.m. circle. This morning would be about Boondocking, BLM, City Stealth, etc. This could definitely serve helpful in the nearby travels! I made cafe and met J' over at the circle.
It was bound to be a lengthy discussion due to everyone's experiences and/or opinions, but Bob did a great job on keeping it on track. The information was some new and some we had heard before or experienced ourselves, but always good to learn at least one new thing! I walked over to the "Free Pile" (yes, it's exactly as it sounds). It's a pile full of stuff that people in the group are getting rid of: can't find a place for it, can't find a use for it or simply don't want it...and it's all 100% FREE! You just never know what you're going to find...and like they say, "Another man's 'trash' is another man's treasure." I'm going to call it "The R.T.R. Recycle/Freecycle Program." This would be my first actual look at the free pile since getting here...there is a ton of stuff here! There are books, dishes, seat cushions, clothes of all sorts, shoes, glassware, cookware, perfumes, hangers, even a coffee maker and a printer (our printer)! I ended up grabbing a few different items of clothing, I was surprised to find they were in super good shape and really nice brands like Columbia...good for lengthy wear! I tried them on to make sure they fit, and after a washing, I'll have myself a few nice cardigans, tank tops
and a pair of Cherokee hiking sandals. (I scrubbed those suckers down, they're like brand new!) I even found a 2013 Calendar with super cute animals on it...I have been looking for a 2013 Calendar. I also picked up a book named: I can't believe I'm crocheting! haha How cool is that, it's totally 70's style too, love!
After our nice finds and new digs, we 'piddled' around the van, talked to a few peeps and headed down the road to our Football Destination Point...Ehrenberg. First, we had to get some water and twice the ice, then we would be on our way.
Even though we were going to Ehrenberg to watch the foosball (last two games) we had other business to take care of as well. Remember the backpack that J' was carrying out of the Flying J', last week when we took showers? Well, that backpack came up missing the night we got back to Quartzsite, when I was trying to organize the van into sitting-still mode. I pack the front seat a very certain way, so I noticed his backpack was not in the van...after a good in-depth discussion about the whereabouts and the recovery of it, we decided to just check the desert when we went back. Today would be the day we would find out if we were right on its whereabouts... dun dun duuuuunnnnn! haha
The funniest thing was that it didn't really matter if we found it or not. J' had decided the stuff that was in the backpack wasn't really worth worrying over...if anything he would miss the backpack more than anything inside of it! Anything that was of any importance, was not in the backpack and anything else could be a $20 trip to Wal-mart to replace under-roo's and socks. But here we are laughing about it, with it, back in the van!
Hakuna Matata...
it means No Worries!
PEACE
We left the R.T.R. for a couple of days to run our errands in Blythe but to also watch the foosball games today and Sunday...we don't get TV in Quartzsite. We also like the fact that it's a good 10-15 degrees warmer...still cold, but warmer than Quartzsite right now.
Today was a nice day to catch up on some posts, J' worked his mind and fingers to the bone and Savannah caught up on all her weirdo sleep.
The big game for us was the Broncos vs. Ravens. What a game...both teams played very well, the game went into overtime and the Ravens came out with the win...Booooooooooo. This will definitely be a topic of conversation (due to our Denverite Bronco Fan Friends) for at least a week. Oh well, it would have been fun to see the Broncos go a little further but they had a great season. Our day was filled mostly with watching this game. I (paper) wrapped my little prezzies for my nieces. I can't show you what they look like now because I don't want to spoil it, but after I gift them I will post pics....but here are some other pieces that I have wrapped:
It was nice to catch up on all the 'little things' and J' was able to churn out some good work today. We will stay out here again all day tomorrow, sleep here tomorrow night and then head back to Quartzsite some time on Monday. It seems to be getting quite cold here right now so we are planning for a chilly night...again, so glad we have that heater!
PEACE
As you've probably noticed in the last few posts, we tend to be parking at the casino lots at night and then moving on to another spot for the day, usually a public park. Today we were driving up to that really high parking lot (where we met Butch when we first arrived in Laughlin) and decided, after circling the lot that we would keep going down the 'back road' we had been driving on. We thought we might find something better than a parking lot full of RV's...that we didn't have a permit to be in. We drove down the road about a 1/4 mile and saw an open spot on a little hill on the 'side' of the road. I was driving...this would be my first "off-road" experience in the driver seat since we left Georgia. (It's actually a pretty small hill! haha) We pulled up and parked and checked the reception on the tube...today is Foosball Sunday. We got perfect reception, I guess we'll be staying.
We sat here all day. There are no signs around saying anything about private property, no parking, no camping...that's always a good sign. No one bothered us all day. If we stay here for another Sunday, this may just be our Foosball spot! There's also some traffic on this road but not much so that's nice. Pretty much it was just another good Sunday hanging out in the van. Savannah...you know how she makes us laugh well today was another one of those days! She is so funny. So, you know how she found a new spot on top of the bed the other day? Well today we were sitting in the van and I went to check on her...oh my gosh where is Savannah?? Panic sets in for a second. I don't see her anywhere. I don't hear her. We look where the pedals are, in her crate, on top of the bed. J' then looks in between the bed and the back windows...He got the camera and started taking pics of her.
She wedged herself between the rolled up bed and the back windows. She was so happy back there...she's such a weirdo...a cute lil' weirdo! She heard us laughing and talking about her and came up to see what the commotion was all about...
She truly is her own dog with a very unique personality. She just loves to be in bed! At least I can say with anything that makes me sad or not have a good day or anything like that, there's Savannah to make me laugh until I pee my pants and just give a big sigh...the simple things are the best things. Oh, how I love that dog!
PEACE
Wow, we just can't get over the fact that we are mobile once again! We had talked about what we were going to do once Joon was fixed...we will go, we will drive, we will see new things...BUT we had made some plans to spend some time with Wayne first...then we will roll on outta here! Today is Sunday though and you know what that means for this rig...football.
We sat and watched a few games while messing around on the computers: researching our next journey & sleepy spots. We even got some showers in! Yep, we are having the weekend of a lifetime here, folks! haha
Around 3 p.m. we had a much anticipated visitor roll up to Joon Van...BOB! He had some business in Pahrump, so we were more than happy to have him come camp with us for a night or two. He has also purchased a van since we last saw each other, so he was able to test it out on the drive.
It's always so nice to see familiar faces, especially in this lifestyle. It's nice to be on your own, roam freely & independently but when you see those smiling faces, a big warm fuzzy feeling comes over you and it's just great! Oh, and it was so cool to see Homer again too...I just love that pup!
We talked for a couple of hours and then Bob took a walk, I'm sure he was longing for...he and Pahrump have quite the history. The sun was starting to set and the Full Moon is tomorrow so you know I got some great pictures. Like you all know, I'm a sucker for Full Moons!
So, it may seem like it wasn't a very eventful day, but it was a great day indeed! We always love Bob's company, it was great to visit with him for a while and see Homer. We will probably see him again tomorrow before he heads back to where he and his group are camping in Victorville. We have a lot of stuff to square away in the morning before heading over to Wayne's for dinner in the early evening...should be some good eats!
Until then my friends, we'll catch ya on the flip side yo!
PEACE
