Gobble 'til ya Wobble!

Although a little late....
Happy Thanksgiving!!
I know a lot of you out there have been celebrating all week and weekend with your families and friends. We missed our family and friends back "home" and hope you all had a great day of good food, laughter, fun and games and making memories.

While some of our family was having fun in Sunny Florida celebrating together

Our daughter Brittney with Roscoe, my mom & sister, Courtney with Frankie

and decorating the Christmas tree...

What costumes??!!
we celebrated with our tribe~ our road family, out here in the desert.

You wouldn't expect a huge Thanksgiving day feast in the middle of the desert, but it happens almost every year...and it's gooooooood!!
This year I made up a list of everyone (about 45 people) and what they would make and/or bring, we had everything from Turkey and mashed potatoes to pies and napkins.
Bob supplied the fryer, peanut oil and turkey's (among other items). Jamie fried one turkey and "Papi" cooked the other one in his grill...They both turned out totally scrumptious!

I'm sure some of you are curious as to how we fried a turkey out here. I have included some pictures and video link below for your viewing pleasure.

First, Papi will come over to go over it again, to make sure you don't screw anything up!

Having a couple of brave & helpful men around helps

Pat the bird down, make sure it didn't take any of your jewelry!

Make a wind barrier because, well....we're in the desert and we need that flame! If one way doesn't work try another...and another until it does!

Dress for the part! Jamie is much too purty to be burning anything!

Drop it like it's hot....no wait, don't do that!
Drop it like it's going into 350* of peanut oil!!!

Look at it bubbling!
Eddie was a big part of the support team.

Let it boil/fry for 45 minutes

Get suited back up to raise the bird

Deliciously Golden Brown

Everyone is waiting on this bird!!!

The transporter

The bird is in flight with the Star of the day

Thank goodness, we had two birds...the first one went down fast with this group!

Then....you eat, laugh and be jolly for the rest of the day!
Wish I would have taken more pictures of the food and our friends but sometimes you just go with the flow and before you know it, the day is over.
We all ate 'til we were ready to pop. I think I had two layers of food on my plate at one time...didn't want to miss anything!
After the meal, the guys watched football, the ladies talked and laughed and everyone was able to take something home, if they so desired.
It was a great day and I'm glad I took the time to put together that list, everyone else did the work and brought it all together on one big table.
Thank you to everyone that made it possible to have such an amazing celebration out here in the wild. I know it means a lot to many of us and we are glad you could join us and be a part of it.
(Early or belated) I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you spent it exactly as you wanted to.
